Hochiki Europe s FIREscape® Emergency lighting system enhances safety while saving money

12 January 2012

« Back to news items

Hochiki Europe’s new FIREscape® emergency lighting system is an intelligent low voltage system which utilises light emitting diode (LED) technology to provide a unique, highly cost-effective, and energy efficient solution.

Manufactured in the UK, FIREscape comprises an addressable emergency lighting control panel with self-contained LED luminaires and signage connected via low voltage (40V) cabling. The luminaires are also equipped with battery back-up, making sure they will function in every situation, while the units fit directly onto a standard Hochiki sensor base (YBN-R/3), making installation and maintenance simple.

One of the major costs associated with emergency lighting is maintenance, where testing and professional engineer costs can quickly mount up. In contrast to other systems, FIREscape’s control panel continuously monitors and tests the functionality of the system. In-house maintenance personnel can download results from the control panel and print out the servicing and test records. This makes the system fully compliant with the requirements of BS5266-1:2005.

The LED technology that the system uses is both cost-effective and environmentally friendly – in fact, it produces less than five per cent of the carbon emissions of fluorescent lighting, making it a green alternative to other systems and allowing operating costs to be kept to a minimum.

So how much can be saved? Hochiki carried out a comparison between the FIREscape system and a traditional manual test system, and found that FIREscape could save users a massive £186 534 and reduce CO2e by more than 29.5 tonnes over a 10 year period. *

Unique, energy efficient and cost-effective – Hochiki’s FIREscape Emergency Lighting system is the state-of-the-art solution that fulfils all the safety requirements of modern buildings.
