Corporate Manslaughter/Homicide – The Impact

The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 came into force on 6 April 2008. Its stated aim is to make it easier to convict companies and other large organisations where serious management failures result in death. The Act, together with the Health and Safety (Offences) Act 2008, reinforces the importance of managing health and safety as a key business risk. The presentation will remind of the main elements of both pieces of legislation and their impact to date, on corporate and personal liability.

The second phase of the campaign is about promoting action in the workplace to address the risks of slips, trips and falls from height. The interactive eLearning package is one of the tools that will help employers take effective action to tackle their risks. Anyone can use it: workers, managers, business owners, and health and safety professionals as it contains three courses: introductory, intermediate and advanced.
