First Aid Courses
It doesn’t mean that just because the office is a low risk environment that first aid will never be needed. Although injuries that occur in the office tend to be minor they can also be very diverse.
An Emergency First Aid course will give you the relevant knowledge to deal with these minor injuries. So that you have the right equipment to deal with an accident, the course will teach you how to stock a first aid kit to the relevant level. The course will also teach you how to treat sprains, eye injuries and burns as well as CPR. As a result of attending you will also be equipped to attend to a bleeding or choking casualty.
Fire Warden / Marshal Training
In the event of an emergency the standard procedure would be to call the emergency services and evacuate the building. You need an appointed person in the workplace to make sure evacuation procedures are managed and executed safely.
A Fire Marshal or Fire Warden training course will qualify your selected employee to help prepare for the event of an emergency evacuation and limit the chances of a fire. The course will give you the knowledge to put an evacuation procedure in place and stop the spreading of a fire in the process of evacuation.
IOSH Managing Safely
Managers and supervisors need to be trained to the same level as their employees and more. They are expected to understand how they have a responsibility to deliver on site health and safety criteria. As a manager or supervisor you need to make sure that you are working to the criteria yourself as well as your employees so therefore you need to attend the relevant training to do so.
Office Managers or those in a similar role are recommended to attend the IOSH Managing Safely. The course gives you the knowledge to spot occupational hazards and have an understanding of the causes of workplace injuries and how to reduce them.
Manual Handling
Incorrect manual handling is the cause of over a quarter of all workplace injuries. Reoccurring injuries can develop over time from manual handling musculoskeletal injuries. Because office workers can be sat down for long periods of time on a regular basis they become prone to these injuries.
In order to improve their technique and be able to manoeuvre safely workers are advised to attend a manual handling course. Delegates who attend will also pick up other transferable skills such as risk assessments.
