Chief Executive of HSA to open Health and Safety Ireland

The inaugural Health and Safety Ireland event will take place at The National Show Centre, Dublin, Ireland on 16 - 17 November 2011. Opening the two day event will be the Chief Executive of the HSA (Health and Safety Authority), Martin O'Halloran, who will be delivering the keynote address.
Martin O'Halloran has been the Authority's Chief Executive since June 2007.He also served on the Board of the Authority and was an Irish delegate to the European Commission advisory committee on Occupational Safety and Health. His speech will touch on some of the major issues affecting the health and safety industry today.
The launch of Health and Safety Ireland gives professionals direct access to the highest quality of independent safety information, health and safety product manufacturers and service providers and allows visitors to fulfil all their safety-related sourcing needs, gain access to valuable knowledge, the opportunity to meet the industry�s most respected organisations and network with other professionals.
Health and Safety Ireland presents a combination of relevant, informative seminars and a range of first-class exhibitors representing the best in PPE providers, machinery safety consultants, asbestos management, consultancy and training providers, working at height advisors, monitoring and safety test equipment and industry organisations such as the HSA, IIRSM, British Safety Council and IOSH. The FREE conference programme encompasses the diverse range of working environments in Ireland, from farming to construction; with all content completely new and unique to Health and Safety Ireland.
On day one of the event, is the seminar entitled"Delivering a Zero Harm Safety Culture"delivered byColm Murphy, Global Safety Programme Manager-Diageo. The presentation will focus on Diageo's "Zero Harm Culture" programme and will explore the applications and benefits of the cultural tools and processes developed within the programme. Diageo established the single global vision for health and safety culture in 2007 and the outcomes have been significant, with more than 80% improvement in lost time accident performance.
On day two visitors at the event will be able to see a seminar hosted byLiam O�Sullivanwho is currently the Transmission Construction Director & Engineering Manager responsible for the design and delivery, commercial, health and safety aspects of a multi-million (c. £200m), multi - disciplinedengineering project to construct and operate the electricity transmission infrastructure for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The seminar entitled"Managing H&S Behaviour by Engagement on the London 2012 Construction Programme - a View from 'The Inside Track' ", will look at what is next for the construction industry and where do we go from here?
In addition an overview of what is meant by culture and what does this mean in practical terms,is explained in the seminar entitled 'Understanding and Improving Safety Culture'.Delivered bySarah Cudmore, Cudmore Consulting, a work psychologist who provides consultancy to senior managers in organisations; helping them to resolve their business issues. She uses her psychological knowledge, combined with her practical skills and experience, to assist people and organisations to understand and improve performance through changing behaviours. The information in the seminar is presented in 'plain English', removing a lot of the mystique and jargon around safety culture and behavioural safety.It is a pragmatic way to view, assess and approach organisational changes.
