Many companies are failing to address significant electrical hazards through existing safety policies and procedures. In particular the phenomenon of arc flash is poorly understood by industry and as a result workers are regularly exposed to unknown and potentially life threatening risks. Recent studies identify arc flash as the leading cause of injury and death for trained operators in electrical systems environments.
Premium Power deliver a total site safety package. Its solution offers comprehensive awareness training, a fully compliant safety procedures system as well as arc flash hazard assessment. The company can work to mitigate against the most significant risks, reducing hazards to workers.
Premium Power are leading consultants on electrical safety providing customised and validated procedures and policies. The company has extensive experience with arc flash with over 10,000 busbars assessed across Europe. The team's huge experience of power system analysis and an ISO 9001 accredited approach gives them a unique and powerful insight into electrical safety.
According to NFPA & IEEE from 1992 to 2002, over 2,000 workers a year or more than five workers a day were victims of an arc flash.
The OSHA says that 80% of electrically related accidents and fatalities involving 'qualified workers' are caused by arc flash / arc blast. Between 2007 and 2011, more than 2,880 fines were assessed for not meeting OSHA regulation 1910.132(d) which averages out to 1.5 fines a day.
