08:30 - 09:15 ISO 45001: making safety part of the bigger picture

ISO 45001, the new international standard for occupational health and safety management, represents a major change in the safety world.

The first global standard encompassing occupational health and safety, ISO 45001 will drive a standardised approach to safety to protect employees worldwide, regardless of organisation size, industry or nature of business.

For some countries, the standard will be transformational in how safety is managed: for others, including the UK, it sets a benchmark for leadership to re-evaluate and improve how health and safety systems are implemented across their organisation.

However, just like any other standard, system or process, implementation in isolation won’t necessarily be the definitive ‘silver bullet’ in transforming safety performance.

Presenters will discuss:

  • key principles that underpin ISO 45001
  • navigating the ‘chicken and egg’ scenario of employee engagement
  • improving safety performance in line with ISO 45001
