This session explores using risk assessment in a context wider than health and safety and show how having an effective risk management programme, organisations can be confident in taking risk and reaping the rewards.

The presentation will look at the history of H&S prequalification in the UK, the birth of SSIP and what effect this has had upon the approach to consistent H&S pre-qualification in the market place. It will also discuss the savings and impact SSIP has had since its inception in 2007 and what the future holds with the introduction of CDM 2015 for SSIP and H&S pre-qualification in general.

S3F 14:25 - 14:55 Elaina Harvey, UK Thermal Specialist for Nomex� & Western Europe Electric Arc End User Specialist: Dupont Personal Protection How to Assess Electric Arc Hazards and Protect Workers The DuPont "4 P� approach to understanding and managing electrical arc hazards will be summarised (Predict, Prevent, Protect and Publish). Where the risk cannot be controlled by prevention or where there is a residual risk of injury then it may be necessary to consider Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to prevent injury to the worker. Within the Protect section, the new arc flash standards IEC 61482-2, EN 61482-1-1 and EN 61482-1-2 will be highlighted together with a lightweight, comfortable European layering approach to ensure that the worker is not restricted from cumbersome clothing.
