TRAKA WINS BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR HEALTH & SAFETY
August 31st 2007

Traka plc has won the Manufacturing & Industry Today 2007 Business Achievement Award for Health & Safety in the Environment with its key management solutions.

Managing keys for vehicles, property and equipment has been a primary focus for Traka since 1991. Integrating Traka solutions with the Home Office approved Alcolock 500 (supplied by GB Alcolock) which requires key users to take either compulsory or random sample alcohol tests to check they are below the UK drink-drive limit, provides a cost effective mechanism to ensure users of hazardous equipment, or drivers of vehicles, are safe in their workplace.

Originally designed to help manage vehicle keys for the ground support of the UK's largest airline, Traka electronic key management systems are now is use around the world to help organisations manage keys and the assets the keys control.

In 1999, Traka developed the concept of using the Traka iFob as an electronic key, initially for Fork Lift Trucks. The system proved a huge success, with over 9,000 trucks in the UK now using Trakas innovative system. Having been developed further and made suitable for building and machinery access, the flexibility of this patented product means that it has many applications such as diamond mines where it plays a vital role in the control and audit access to diamonds.

Trakas range of products include a range of modular key cabinets from a single 10 key system to networked cabinets capable of supporting thousands of keys. Having experience with all types of access devices has enabled the company to develop a catalogue of interfaces making Traka compatible with 99% of the worlds access control systems.

Traka has also previously been awarded The Queen's Award for Enterprise for the company's outstanding achievement in innovation.
